Every territory on the map is a state, and every state has its rulers

- Data and accuracy
Hundreds of shapes on the map used to open only a bare card, because the atlas held no entry for them, and most states had no rulers at all. Every shape now opens a state of its own, and a state that Wikidata names no ruler of shows the rulers its English article and its rulers' articles name, with the years they give.
- The Avar Khaganate, the Duchy of Benevento, the County of Toulouse, the Aetolian League, the Huns and some three hundred more are states of their own; where Wikidata gives them no dates, they are dated by the first and last years the map draws them, and the panel says so.
- A shape filed under the wrong thing opens the right state: the Zaporozhian Cossacks open the Zaporozhian Sich, the title 'sultan' the Sultanate of Bone, the city of Girona the County of Barcelona.
- A shape drawn in years its state does not cover opens the state of those years where the atlas holds one: Switzerland before 1798 is the Old Swiss Confederacy, Norway before 1397 the medieval kingdom.
- The Kingdom of Pontus, the Bosporan Kingdom, the Latin Empire, the Khmer Empire and about a thousand other states now have their rulers, read from their articles' lists of leaders and their rulers' lines of succession, and labelled as read from the articles.
