The Slavic tribes on the map
- Map
The Antes, the Sclaveni and the East Slavic tribes of the chronicle now have ground on the map in their own years: the Polianians between the Irpin and the Ros, the Derevlianians in the forests of Polissia, the Krivichs on the upper Dnieper and the Dvina, the Vyatichi on the Oka, and the rest. Their borders are approximate - nobody ever drew one - so they are dotted, traced along the rivers their sources name and set against a map of the East Slavic tribes.
- Before a state's border reaches them, a people is drawn as ground of its own, in a tint no neighbour shares; once a state's border holds them - Kyivan Rus' from the 880s - they are a dotted outline with their name inside it, a people of that state.
- Hover a people's ground for its card, click it to open its entry; its Sources say how its ground was drawn and against which map.
- In the sixth century the Antes and the Sclaveni stand where the later tribes will, and the tribes take their ground as they leave the record.
