· v1.6.1
Every city joined to its record
- Map
- Cities and places
- Data and accuracy
The cities on the map now carry what Wikidata knows of each: 1,528 of the 1,588 are joined to their item, 744 with a founding on record, 32 with an end, and the card opens the city's article.
- A city's card now gives its founding where Wikidata records one earlier than the first population estimate — Rome from 753 BCE, Ur from the fourth millennium — and its abandonment where one is recorded, with the article under it.
- The join prefers the city to anything that shares its name — Mexico City is no longer its metro, Córdoba not its province — and the handful the name alone could not place (Ur, Toledo in Ohio, Ani, Mayapan) are joined by hand with the reason written down.
- The table's Memphis carried Memphis, Tennessee's population of 1975 beside the pharaohs'; the Egyptian city now ends in 641.
